SUMMARY:The Role of Community Engagement in Environmental Health Research
DESCRIPTION:Join Melissa Suter\, PhD\, of Baylor College of Medicine\, and Lance Hallberg\, PhD\, and Claire Hallmark\, MPH\, both of University of Texas Medical Branch\, for a talk highlighting the role of the Community Engagement Core (CEC) in fostering meaningful\, bidirectional communication between researchers and communities impacted by Superfund site chemical pollutants. They will discuss strategies for partnering with local leaders and residents to co-develop prevention and intervention approaches aimed at reducing exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and other contaminants. Finally\, the presentation will showcase how these collaborative efforts inform research directions\, build capacity\, and advance environmental health equity in vulnerable populations. Time for interactive discussion with the speakers will be provided. \n\n\n\nPlease register for this talk on www.eventbrite.com at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1979387429084. All registrants will receive a link to the recording of the event. This virtual event will use the WebEx platform. Registrants will receive a separate e-mail with WebEx connection details.   \n\n\n\nContact Lisa Brenskelle at gcs.lrc@gmail.com with any questions.
