SUMMARY:Energy Conservation for Houses of Worship
DESCRIPTION:Faith communities across the country are facing rising utility costs\, aging facilities\, and shrinking operating budgets. Yet many houses of worship can reduce their energy expenses by 10–30% through practical\, low-cost operational improvements and strategic capital planning. \n\n\n\nIn this engaging virtual presentation\, Certified Energy Manager and Energy For Purpose President Colby May will share real-world examples from hundreds of churches\, seminaries\, and schools. Participants will learn how to identify common sources of wasted energy\, prioritize the most cost-effective improvements\, understand available utility incentives\, and develop a long-term strategy that reduces operating expenses while improving comfort and extending equipment life. More importantly\, attendees will discover how lowering utility costs can free additional financial resources for their mission —turning energy stewardship into mission stewardship. Time for interactive discussion with the speaker will be provided. \n\n\n\nThis virtual event will use the WebEx platform. Registrants will receive a separate e-mail with WebEx connection details.  All registrants will get a link to the recording of this talk. \n\n\n\nContact Lisa Brenskelle at gcs.lrc@gmail.com with any questions.  Register for this event on www.eventbrite.com at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1995593283230. \n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Faithful Resilience: A Study on Climate Resilience for Faith Communities
DESCRIPTION:Faithful Resilience is a six-part weekly study on climate resilience for faith communities. The climate crisis has arrived. Faith communities must not only react\, but also prepare. Over the last decade\, hurricanes have intensified\, wildfires have burnt stronger\, and heat waves have baked our cities. These events can only be expected to get worse in the next decades. \n\n\n\nMost of our faith communities are not ready for these climate-driven disasters. Yet\, the communities who will be most threatened by climate change also have an opportunity to play a pivotal role in building resilience in their towns and cities. Whether a faith community has a large facility\, land\, social capital\, or something else\, those assets can be channeled into building climate resilience in preparation for the coming physical and spiritual storms of the climate crisis. \n\n\n\nJoin us for this six-week weekly exploration and consider how your faith community can become a force for climate resilience. \n\n\n\nTo learn more/register\, see: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1994581987417. Contact Lisa Brenskelle at gcs.lrc@gmail.com for more information. \n\n\n\nTopics for the six-week exploration of how faith communities can become a force for climate resilience for your community include: \n\n\n\nWeek 1: The Land We Inhabit \n\n\n\nWeek 2: The Fierce Urgency of Now \n\n\n\nWeek 3: Resilience & Restoration \n\n\n\nWeek 4: Climate Migration \n\n\n\nWeek 5: Building Resilience \n\n\n\nWeek 6: Resilient Religion/Spirituality
