SUMMARY:Finding Water and Hope
DESCRIPTION:Finding hope in adapting to climate change can start by focusing on water.  Join Jen Powis\, Managing Attorney for the Gulf Regional Office of Earthjustice\, for a high level overview of how the law protects or sometimes sacrifices drinking water for industrial development and how communities can work together to protect the elixir of life.  \n\n\n\nThe talk will also touch briefly on environmental justice principles of community led work with the reference frame around water harkening back to Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream Speech.”  Dr. King famously invoked the Old Testament scripture Amos 5:24 when he adapted the verse to declare: “No\, no\, we are not satisfied\, and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters\, and righteousness like a mighty stream.”  \n\n\n\nTime for interactive discussion with the speaker will be provided.  \n\n\n\nPlease register for this talk on www.eventbrite.com at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1992953945901.  \n\n\n\nThis virtual event will use the WebEx platform.
