Proceeds will go to the Citizens’ Environmental Coalition\, to enable and support their continuing work of over 50 years.  \n\n\n\nThe following day\, on Saturday\, September 30\, the Houston Community Climate Summit will be a full day\, free event.  \n\n\n\nBringing these two together builds off of the work we have all been striving towards\, and strengthens the coalition across the Greater Houston Area\, as well as Jefferson County and the Greater Texas Gulf Coast\, creating stronger resiliency among us. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFriday Sep. 29\, 2023 (half day) – CEC’s Greater Houston Environmental Summit – ticketed\n\n\n\nThe Citizens’ Environmental Coalition\, CEC\, hosts a networking and learning event for the extraordinary people who work at or are interested in the work of environmental organizations in the Greater Houston region. Please join the CEC to learn with and network with a great community of environmental influencers.Have a conversation with experts and passionate activists about issues in environment and sustainability. \n\n\n\nFriday’s event has a $50 registration fee. It goes from 12 Noon to 5 pm. It is hosted by University of Houston–Downtown’s Center for Urban Agriculture and Sustainability (CUAS) at 315 N. DESCRIPTION:Houston was part of the first celebration of Earth Day in 1970. Now\, the region is host to dozens of public Earth Day events\, including Earth Day Houston. Presented in partnership with the Citizens’ Environmental Coalition (Houston) and sponsored by Green Mountain Energy Company\, Discovery Green’s citywide Earth Day celebration is designed to educate\, inspire and encourage action. SUMMARY:Wild & Scenic Film Festival On Tour
DESCRIPTION:The Houston festival is a selection of films from the 4-day festival held each year in Nevada City\, CA\, by the watershed advocacy group\, the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL). Their National Partners—Patagonia\, CLIF Bar\, Earthjustice\,Sierra Nevada Brewing\, Klean Kanteen\, Orion Magazine\, Barefoot Wine\, and KEEN—help make the festival available to environmentally conscious groups across the country. Hosting The Wild & Scenic Film Festival on Tour helps the CEC illustrate the Earth’s beauty\, the challenges facing our planet\, and the work communities are doing to protect our environment. The festival is a natural extension of CEC’s work to inspire people to act. \nThe Festival consists of 24 short documentary films which speak to the environmental concerns and celebrations of our planet. Different films will be shown each night\, and each night will include a local environmental story. Topics range from astonishing adventure and the beauty of the great outdoors to grass roots efforts to combat environmental injustice and other serious issues. \nTickets are per night and start at $15 for members who buy tickets in advance to $20 at the door.
