SUMMARY:A New Agenda & Bipartisanship for the Americas & the U.S. (panel)
DESCRIPTION:The past two decades have provided great successes and collaborations between the U.S and Latin America\, especially in the areas of: economic integration and trade; combatting organized crime and narcotics trafficking; strengthening collaboration on anti-corruption efforts; expanding and improving educational exchanges; and addressing the opportunities and challenges of actors from outside of the hemisphere. \nIn 2017\, Global Americans convened a High-Level Working Group on Inter-American Relations and Bipartisanship to discuss cross-regional ways the current U.S. administration can build and improve upon the achievements of the past twenty years of inter-American cooperation. The effort represents a broad hemispheric voice to define a new agenda for inter-American affairs and recommendations\, including: \n• Tracking the dissemination of misinformation\n• Improving NAFTA to make it more fair\n• Expanding the U.S. Treasury Department’s anti-money laundering efforts used against terrorism to address narcotics and organized crime\n• Adopting and integrating anti-corruption tools\, norms and procedures\n• Fully funding and even expanding U.S. educational exchange programs in the face of China’s ambitious efforts in the same field \n\nPlease join the Council for a Panel Discussion with:\nForeign Minister Carolina Barco\nFormer Foreign Minister of Colombia and Former Colombian Ambassador to the U.S.  \nChristopher Sabatini\nGlobal Americans Executive Director & Founder and Lecturer at Colombia University’s SIPA \nMarco A. Fernández\nMexico Evalúa Anti-Corruption & Education Coordinator and Researcher at ITESM School of Government
