SUMMARY:IENoH 2019 Kick-Off Event
DESCRIPTION:The Interfaith Environmental Network of Houston invites you to their 2019 Kick-Off Event at First Congregational Church. We will hear from faith leaders of a variety of faiths on the ethics of eating. There will be a presentation on the top ten actions houses of worship can take now to preserve the earth. We will recap activities from 2018\, and discuss plans for 2019. You’ll get an opportunity to provide your input into 2019 planning via a survey. And\, we ask those who can do so to bring some snacks to share for our break-out sessions\, during which we’ll get to know each other better. We’ll provide beverages to accompany the snacks. People of all faiths are encouraged to attend\, as are representatives of local environmental non-profits that would like to work with people of faith on environmental issues. Please join us! First Congregational Church is located at 10840 Beinhorn Rd. Register for the event here. Contact Lisa Brenskelle at gcs.lrc@gmail.com or more information.

SUMMARY:Justice Without Death
DESCRIPTION:Justice Without Death\nShared stories from murder victim family members of healing through reconciliation\, and Q&A with the Office of Kim Ogg\, Harris County District Attorney. \nTold from personal experiences of loss of loved ones to murder\, storytellers recount their tragedies and their struggles in a “Journey of Hope…From Violence to Healing.” These murder victim family members chose not to seek revenge\, and instead chose love and compassion and forgiveness as a way of healing. \nHarris County has sent more people to death row than any other county in the United States since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976. What stance will the Office of Kim Ogg\, Harris County District Attorney take in the future on the death penalty for capital murder cases? \nHear and meet Journey of Hope storytellers and representatives from the Office of Kim Ogg\, Harris County District Attorney Tuesday October 17\, 7pm – 9pm\, at First Congregational Church of Houston\, 10840 Beinhorn Road\, Houston. \nThere is no charge for this event\, but you may make reservation at the Eventbrite website shown below.
