The Interfaith Environmental Network of Houston invites you to their 2019 Kick-Off Event at First Congregational Church. We will hear from faith leaders of a variety of faiths on the ethics of eating. There will be a presentation on the top ten actions houses of worship can take now to preserve the earth.
The Vote Smart: 2018 Facts Matter Tour will be hosted on September 9th at First Congregational Church in Houston. This is the only Houston presentation on the national tour of this voter education program.
The Facts Matter Tour will address Voter Self-Defense strategies that help us
· Learn how to view entertaining but dangerous political commercials that manipulate us instead of informing us
· Take actions to defend our right to the facts, the truth, and the reality that our democracy depends on
“Justice” is the theme this summer for Peace Camp 2018. This is an alternative day camp from 9am -3pm, for children ages 5-18. The focus will be on developing inner peace and building problem solving skills. Yoga, gardening, special guests, using puppets co-operative games, and cooking are some of the activities planned. Youth who are 13 and older will have a curriculum that deals with gun control, racism, LGBTQ issues, PTSD, and other more mature topics. Although several sessions are at churches, the camp is not religious.
With violence permeating our culture, let’s make teaching peace a priority!

Bring a dish to share with other peace, justice, and environmental activists, and plan on having a relaxed time enjoying all the great food. Share literature about your organization and its activities, and tell everyone about your upcoming events. Children are welcome.
This year we are proud to have FIVE public weeks of Peace Camp, each at a different location in Houston, 9AM-3:30 PM for each week! Volunteers and donations are needed, too.
