Another Antifascist Action at GRB!

Are you sickened and outraged by the recent white supremacist murders in El Paso? By the Christchurch mosque murders? By the murders at the Pittsburgh synagogue? By the murder of Heather Heyer in Charlottesville? By the murders at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston? Are you ready to take a stand against the fascists and other white supremacists who are committing or encouraging these heinous crimes?
You are invited to participate in a counter-demonstration against the Texas Patriot Network and other white supremacists at the George R. Brown Convention Center, 1001 Avenida De Las Americas, on Saturday, August 31. These racists will be protesting against the Islamic Society of North America Convention. Our counter-demonstration will begin at 7:30 am and continue until 5:30 pm. Come when you can, and stay as long as you can.
Last year this crew planned a three-day protest but barely got through the first day. We massively outnumbered them, easily outshouted them, and embarrassed them so badly that they could not get enough racists to come back on the second and third days. We know because we were there waiting for them each day. Solidarity among diverse organizations and individuals made last year’s antifascist action a great success.
We support our Muslim brothers’ and sisters’ right to hold their convention, exercise their religious freedom, and live as they wish without fear of violence, harassment, or intimidation. And we oppose any kind of platform for fascists. So once again, we will be at GRB to drown out the racism and religious bigotry of TPN and their friends, and drive them off the streets as soon as possible.
This anti-fascist action is endorsed by Familias Inmigrantes y Estudiantes en la Lucha (FIEL), Free Los Niños Coalition, Houston Peace and Justice Center, Houston Socialist Movement, Houston United Front Against Fascism, Janie Torres, Mexicanos en Acción, National Domestic Workers Alliance, Refuse Fascism, Socialist Alternative, and other groups (list in formation).
