Book Salon and Reading by Julie Bindel, The Pimping of Prostitution: Abolishing the Sex Work Myth

November 10, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Free
I am hosting a book salon with Julie Bindel:The Pimping of Prostitution: Abolishing the Sex Work Myth, Friday, 11/10/17, 7:30 PM, who has come highly recommended by Robert Jensen, UT Professor, author of 7 books, guest at my book salon Plain Radical: Living, Loving and Learning to Leave the Planet Gracefully (and husband of Eliza Gilkyson). Human trafficking and the global sex trade are issues that have been getting a lot of coverage of late and, frankly, I know too little about them. I look forward to learning more about the important and difficult issues in Julie’s book.
From Amazon.com: This book examines one of the most contested issues facing feminists, human rights activists and governments around the globe – the international sex trade. For decades, the liberal left has been conflicted as to whether pro-prostitution activists or abolitionists hold the correct view, and debates are ongoing as to who holds the key to the solutions facing the people involved.
“To find out the truth behind all those “Pretty Woman” myths about the global sex trade read this well documented book.” Gloria Steinem
Julie will do a reading and then will take questions from the guests. I am sure it will be an informative and eye-opening discussion. Julie will have books for sale and will be happy to sign them.  Please bring what you’d like to eat and drink and take home whatever we don’t use,
