Cesar Chavez Parade and Celebration

The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. at 601 North Cesar Chavez Blvd. Houston, TX 77011. At 11:00 am, the festivities will follow in the gazebo at Hidalgo Park.

There will speeches by Elected Officials, Robert Gallegos City Council member, who will serve as the grand marshal, Hon. Gene Green and Hon Sheila Jackson Lee will also be addressing the attendees.

4 Humanitarian Awards will be presented to past HISD School Board Member and former city of Houston Council Member,  Mr. Felix Fraga and Mrs. Nelly Fraga of Ambassadors International Ballet Folklorico,     Daniel Bustamante Founder and Producer of Festival Chicano, and Marcos Mena, steadfast volunteer  will also be awarded the Humanitarian Award.  Dr. Nicholas Kanellos of Univ. of Hou and Arte Publico Press will be awarded the Preservationist Award.

Holocaust Museum Houston will be providing educational outreach at Hidalgo Park.  Representatives from Women’s Care Center, Ser Jobs for Progress, Dignity Houston, Bureau of Community and Children’s Environmental Health  and representatives from Migrant Farm Workers SME, Amerigroup Medicaid/Chip Insurance will also be providing medical/educational and insurance information.  Music will be provided by Tejano Proud DJ’s and Tejano performers, Dody Rodriguez and Madalyn Hernandez will be performing.
