Virtual Summer Book Study-August

August 3, 2023 @ 7:00 pm 8:30 pm

Are you looking for an inspiring way to spend your summer days? Compassionate Houston’s Summer Book Studies return and registration is open! Our summer reading studies are a great way to meet people of our rich community once a week over a 4-week period, bringing together a multitude of perspectives on topics aimed to foster a greater understanding of compassion and identify personal and public ways to practice it regularly.

This summer we are offering two different books and study groups, one in July and one in August. Don’t miss out on the chance to connect with fellow book lovers and enhance your summer reading experience!

In August, Pam Lewis, in collaboration with our Partner Insight Meditation Houston, will facilitate a discussion of Real Life. The Journey from Isolation to Openness and Freedom by Sharon Salzberg.

In her new book, Real Life, meditation expert Sharon Salzberg, contemplates the skills needed to traverse the larger cycles of life. Applying contemplative tools, we can learn to live more fearlessly― moving from constriction and isolation to a more spacious place of possibility, creativity, connection, and joy.

Real Life is available in hardcover, ebook & audiobook from various retailers.

This book study will be open to all, meeting four Thursdays in August, from August 3 to August 24 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM on Zoom.

Register for August Book Club here.
