Citizens to Rally and March Against Tyranny in Downtown Houston
Houston, TX – (February 13, 2017) – Most years, this weekend would be dedicated to the power of the President. This year on Sunday, February 19, “We the People Connect the Dots” march against tyranny and ongoing attacks on social justice and civil rights.
Instead of honoring our current President on this holiday, we honor the American people and the values that hundreds of thousands of us are fighting for. We are democracy. We are patriots. We are America.” states the membership of Indivisible Houston.
The March will begin at 3:00 PM with speakers from diverse advocacy groups united by those interconnected issues and articulating true American values.
Join RAWtools, The Peace Pastor Marty Troyer, Texas Gun Sense and others on Friday, March 10th at 6:45pm as we turn guns into garden tools and learn of a 3rd way of addressing gun violence.
RAWtools, Inc. gets its scriptural motivation from Isaiah 2:4 and Micah 4:3. We want to be comprehensive in our efforts to move our communities away from gun violence and violence as a whole. Its not enough to just make a lot of tools from guns. We need to help teach each other new ways to solve our problems through relationship, dialogue, and alternative means of justice, i.e. Restorative Justice practices and victim-offender dialogue.

We will gather from 6-6:30 for snack and a brief lecture on why Houstonians should be concerned about drones, what we can do to resist drone warfare in our communities, and what our next steps will be to build a movement against drones in Houston. At 6:30 we will begin screening the documentary UNMANNED: US Drone Wars followed by a brief time to network.

Melissa Cardoza, an afro-indigenous feminist leader from Honduras, is coming to Houston on May 22, together with Honduran singer-songwriter Karla Lara, as part of a tour of the U.S. promoting the new bilingual Spanish-English edition of Melissa's book, 13 colores de la resistencia hondureña / 13 Colors of the Honduran Resistance.

This has been a very long, three year project that began with my first feature documentary, The Ghosts of Jeju. It was then that I realized the U.S. plan for full spectrum dominance of the planet. My research and interest since then has focused on the trajectory of Manifest Destiny since the white, European explorers came to the Americas in the 15th Century.
And so it is, America’s destiny has all life on the planet on the very brink of extinction. As Dr. Caldicott wonders at the end of the film, “Are we an evolutionary aberration designed in an evolutionary sense not to survive? I wonder.”
