Christmas at the Jail VIII

Bering Memorial United Methodist Church 1440 Harold St., Houston, TX, United States

Just because COVID has eliminated visits to inmates at the jail this year, we want to remember that children are still missing their incarcerated loved ones. Michael would expect us to continue his tradition. Therefore, the program has adjusted to make sure some kids get a gift from Santa, and if possible the family gets a gift certificate for Christmas dinner.

Bering Memorial United Methodist Church 1440 Harold St., Houston, TX, United States

IT’S no secret that Beijing has been building up its military might in the South China Sea.

But there’s another superpower making an even bigger play to stay top dog and many of us wouldn’t event realize. The United States has surrounded China with 400 military bases in an almost perfect “noose”.

In a new documentary set to air on Sunday night, The Coming war on China, award-winning journalist and filmmaker John Pilger challenges the notion of the world’s newest, biggest trading nation as an enemy.  He also reveals the build-up to war taking place right on Beijing’s doorstep.

Roy Zimmerman Concert – Potluck- Fundraiser for Peace Camp Houston

Bering Memorial United Methodist Church 1440 Harold St., Houston, TX, United States

What can one person do about climate change, torture, racism, xenophobia, gun violence, fracking, Congressional ineptitude, ignorance, war and greed? Write funny songs, says Roy Zimmerman, master satirist, songwriter, and performer.

HPJC is bringing Roy Zimmerman back to Houston in a benefit to raise funds for Peace Camp Houston. In 14 albums over 20 years, Roy has brought the sting of satire and parody to the struggle for peace and social justice.

He makes fun of right wing politicians, hypocrites, war profiteers, large multinational corporations, religious bigots, and hate-mongers, while entertaining you with stories and music.
