In this presentation, Jim Blackburn will offer a summary of the evolution of modern Christian thinking on the environment from both the Old and New Testaments as well as his own views of Earth-based spirituality to find the common elements as well as some of the differences. This presentation will be informed by the book
Earth Church by Blackburn and artist Isabelle Scurry Chapman as well as two chapters in a forthcoming book on
The Future of the Texas Coast currently under review by Texas A&M Press. Both of these lines of thinking elevate the importance of stewardship and celebration of the Earth which is the centerpiece of both the religious and the secular viewpoints. All attendees will get a link to a free copy of
Earth Church. Print copies available by special arrangement only. Time for interactive discussion with the speaker will be provided. Please register for this talk on
