Want to learn to make homemade Kombucha? It's a fermented tea full of probiotics (healthy gut!), nonalcoholic (usually around .5%), and simple to make. Kombucha acts as an adaptogen, which helps the body maintain homeostasis. The main ingredients are simple; water, a SCOBY, tea and something sweet.

10% of the proceeds to this class current indigenous resistance projects and movements. In the past this money has gone to Two Rivers Camp, AIDA and Survival International. These groups champion tribal peoples and defend their land and culture. As we celebrate their wisdom in our class we will also be sending support for their way of living to continue.

An International Workers Day/A Day Without Immigrants Rally will be held on May 1, 2017, 5:30-8:00 pm, at Guadalupe Plaza, 2311 Runnels Street, in Houston. This event will highlight the historic achievements and contemporary struggles of workers of all nationalities, as well as the imperative need for solidarity with our immigrant sisters and brothers, who are increasingly under attack. Continuing its tradition of celebrating communities from border regions in North America and South Asia, Voices Breaking Boundaries (VBB) will launch the third and final installment of its internationally renowned anthology series. Borderlines Volume Three features original photos, essays, poetry and journalistic narratives that find commonalities, and explore issues erupting across areas splintered by borders.

The Ethnographic Film Society is proud to present a public screening of "On Coal River", a documentary about environmental justice in coal country Appalachia. The screening is free and open to the public. A 5$ donations at the door to support Coal River Mountain Watch, one of the activist organization prominently featured in the film, are greatly appreciated.
