Individual members are always welcome to attend. We will be discussing our 2018 plans for activism towards peace and justice in the areas of peace and family education, foreign and military policy, environmental justice, economic justice, and human rights and criminal justice. What can one person do about climate change, torture, racism, xenophobia, gun violence, fracking, Congressional ineptitude, ignorance, war and greed?  Write funny songs, says Roy Zimmerman , master satirist, songwriter, and performer.

HPJC is bringing Roy Zimmerman back to Houston in a benefit to raise funds for Peace Camp Houston. Optional potluck begins at 6pm and the music starts at 7pm.

Peace Camp is an alternative day camp, from 9am - 3pm, for children ages 5-18.  The focus will be on developing inner peace and building problem solving skills.  Yoga, gardening, special guests, using puppets co-operative games, and cooking are some of the activities planned.  Youth who are 13 and older will have a curriculum that deals with gun control, racism, LGBTQ issues, PTSD, and other more mature topics.

Christmas at the Jails VII

Harris County Jail San Jacinto St. at Baker St., Houston, TX, United States

On Christmas Eve this year, End Mass Incarcation Houston, in association with The Positive Black Male Association of Houston, Houston Peace and Justice Center, and Bering United Methodist Church, will change the world with Love. We will give gifts to children, visiting their jailed parents, as they emerge from the two largest jails in the city. Join us as we try to heal some of the wounds inflicted by this world on the most innocent in it. In this we are in part healed too. Come out and receive the greatest gift of all.
