Come celebrate the intersection of art and justice at I Heart Justice — our social justice poster show featuring limited-edition posters created by amazing Texas artists and honoring attorney Neal Manne for his leadership in promoting justice through pro bono. Proceeds from poster sales will benefit Texas Appleseed and help us continue our fight for justice and opportunity for all Texans.
The Houston Climate Strike will be the biggest climate strike in Houston history. As the energy capital world, Houston is in a position to push the global community toward green energy. This transition will include access to training, unionized jobs, and support for those impacted by the switch in industry. We invite you to come stand with us and continue to the fight for a better future! If you are planning on joining us please remember to carpool, walk, or take public transportation if you are able to!
On September 22, 2019, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Houston, Texas, for a summit with the Indian American community. This event is being held at the NRG Stadium from 10 AM to 1 PM. A group of concerned citizens will be holding a peaceful protest outside the NRG stadium in opposition to the human rights and civil rights violations of PM Modi and his government. The protest/rally will be on the west sidewalk of Kirby, from the 610 South Frontage Road to La Concha Rd, starting at 9 AM. Stay tuned for details (Bus transportation, speakers, etc). We are working on developing a website and online event signup.

The Houston Youth Voters Conference is a summit dedicated to the empowerment of Houston
youth as it concerns four pillars of civic engagement: voter registration, voter turnout, non-
partisan dialogue, and volunteering.
This event will celebrate our right and privilege as youth to participate in our democracy and
effect change in our communities. It will feature speakers, policy discussions, and opportunities
to meet other-like minded youth. We will get registered/pledged to vote together, and come up
with actionable ways to get civically engaged as a united Houston youth front!
Dan Kovalik is a human rights and labor lawyer, and his new book makes the case that the Trump/Russia scandal is a dangerous diversion that leads some progressives to agitate for war with Russia. Kovalik's book offers history and context for the current scene and the "blame Russia" memes promoted by the media, based on anonymous leaks and unseen intelligence. From Vietnam to Iran/Contra, the Iraq war and intervention in Libya, false intelligence and spin have been used to justify illegal actions.

The Center for the Healing of Racism will present Dialogue: Racism, a two-day intensive workshop that educates participants about racism and facilitates the process by which they can begin to counter the effects of racism on their lives, empowering them to interrupt the cycle of racist attitudes. The workshop provides a safe, respectful and loving atmosphere for a diverse group of people to learn new information, share experiences, dispel fears and guilt, and get to know each another.
The Interfaith Environmental Network of Houston invites people of all faiths to learn about our present ecological crisis and consider how our faiths can enable us to respond. What is our present ecological crisis? What specific issues are central? Using the United Nations’ Global Environmental Outlook, issued earlier this year, the speaker will address these questions. All attendees, of all faiths, will then engage in facilitated discussions of how our faiths both inform and enable our response to this crisis, through both personal and collective action and advocacy.
