At Main Street Theater we are currently running 2 plays that have, sadly, turned out to be incredibly timely with all that seems to be falling apart in our world:
RFK: A Portrait of Robert Kennedy and Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-A** Wit of Molly Ivins. (The shows run in repertory, alternating days) through August 14.
EPA Region 6 Environmental Justice Summit
U.S. EPA Region 6 is hosting a 2-day Environmental Justice Summit on August 9-10, 2016, in Dallas. The purpose of the summit is to:
- Discuss progress on the development and implementation of EPA Region 6 Environmental Justice Collaborative Action Plans for Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
- Highlight examples of successful multi-stakeholder collaborations to address environmental justice issues in communities across Region 6.
- Highlight recent federal government initiatives that can support local community efforts to address environmental justice issues.
Target Audience:
Grassroots and community leaders, non-profit organizations, academia, industry, local, state, and federal environmental justice partners.

This summer, bring your friends, family and a blanket – and the Rothko Chapel will supply the music.
Spend one Thursday a month at the Chapel, exploring the Americas through music with "Summer Sounds on the Plaza."
The indigenous cultures of Mexico, Central America and South America will all be honored and celebrated in performances.

Creation Care Fest – Environmental Extravaganza
Christ the King Evangelical Lutheran Church invites you to the 2016 Creation Care Fest – Environmental Extravaganza on Saturday, Aug. 13. This year’s theme is Connections between People and Nature. This free environmental educational offering has activities for all ages. Adults can attend interactive lectures addressing the theme by a variety of experts, from anthropologists to zoologists. Kids can enjoy meeting live education animals, coloring, seeing films, and other fun activities. Nursery care for kids under 5 will be provided. Exhibits by local environmental nonprofits will offer more opportunities to learn and engage. Featured speakers include:
