Ethan has studied NVC for many years and practices it daily at his permaculture homestead. He has organized and been part of restorative circles, and notes that his community wouldn't exist without them.
This class will focus on NVC in group situations like Food Not Bombs. What approach can be taken when someone in like cuts and a fight breaks out? What if someone wants to call the police for a non-emergency? How can we understand peoples motivations and what drives them to anger and aggression?

Santa At The Jail is a project to provide children visiting their parents at the jail a toy as they leave. Imagine having to leave your parent behind bars on Christmas Eve. Please donate and/or join us on Christmas Eve at the jail, to help us bring a little comfort to these kids as they have to leave their parents behind.
The Houston Foreign Policy Alliance invites all those who support our goals of reforming US foreign policy to join us in a holiday party. It's pot luck, so bring something to eat or drink, to share, and have dinner with us. Or you can make a donation to help us cover expenses. Admission is free!
Happy New Year! The 8th and 22nd of January will be the next sessions for Peace Club. The group will be making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for food not bombs and learning to knit and crochet hats for needy folks. Participating in the MLK Parade will be discussed, and possible activities for the next 6 months will be planned. Ages 5 and older are invited, so bring friends. Supporting each other will help us become more compassionate peacemakers. 2017 will be a challenge, so let’s work with our youth to create the Beloved Community.

chris will join with some local members of the Boulder Canyon Band for this Millbend Coffeehouse Special Event KPFT fundraiser. If you truly love the music of John Denver, or if you are a Chris Colllins fan, this concert will be a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a great Sunday afternoon concert, and also to help support the positive impact of KPFT public radio on our local community. This concert will be be hosted by Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church, 1900 Bering Drive, Houston, TX 77057. Tickets are available online for the show, and also for a Patron Supporter package including preferred-seat tickets to the show, a tribute CD, pictures, and an After-Party with refreshments.
