Bidding on these Seven Amazing Items

is Now Closed and will Resume at the Awards Dinner on the evening of Saturday Nov. 11

Please take note of this important auction information:

  • Awards Dinner attendees will all also be able to bid on the evening of November 11. Item #1 will be auctioned live.  A silent auction will be held for the other five items that evening.
  • Online bidding will be closed at 9:00 AM on November 11 to give us time to set up the silent auction.
  • After submitting your bid, bookmark this page so that you can check this page often to see if you have been outbid.  If you wish to bid again, click on the bid link as you did initially and submit another bid.
  • If you are unable to attend the  Awards Dinner, but want to continue to bid on an item,  please enter the maximum amount you are willing to pay in the indicated space on the bidding form.  We will monitor the bids on the item(s) for which you have specified a maximum amount and bid the next bid increment on your behalf up to your specified maximum bid.   We will not submit the highest amount that you are willing to pay unless another bidder comes within one bid increment of your maximum bid.
  • Payment may be made by check or credit/debit card or even cash.   The auction items will be available at the Awards Dinner.
  • If you have a winning bid and are not present at the Awards Dinner, we will notify you by email or phone as soon as possible to arrange payment and pick-up.
  • If you want your item shipped to you, there will be an extra shipping and packing charge.
  • Unless noted otherwise, the full sales amount of each item will be donated to Houston Peace and Justice Center.

Item#6 Handmade Oak and Mahogany Bowl

Made especially for the benefit of HPJC by Pat Rickey who explained that he used wood glue to laminate pieces of red oak and mahogany from a Houston hardwood dealer to create a solid block. With his lathe he hand turned the block into this bowl. He smoothed the bowl surfaces then applied a special gloss varnish called salad bowl finish. This finish, when cured, provides a safe, food-contact surface and should not be affected by liquids in food, so long as it is hand cleaned and thoroughly dried after use.

Chief Arvol Looking Horse and his wife, Paula, have furnished this beautiful star design quilt for the auction. It’s bound to become an heirloom for the family of the highest bidder.  Proceeds from the sales of the quilt will be donated to an organization of the Chief and Paula’s choosing.
